Attitudes help people maintain a stable, organized, and meaningful structure of their world.
HR professionals say happy employees are productive employees. If employees show a good attitude their co-employees will as well communicate and get along in the workplace. This is where Psychology blends in.
The understanding of psychology in the workplace makes the environment feel safer, and employees feel understood and fearless to open up with ideas and thoughts. It is the influence to move through the world. Psychology helps us understand people and that understanding brings out a positive attitude to make the workplace a successful place.
Psychology is the scientific study of human behavior and attitude is a part of human nature.
This entire process builds up an employee's personality.
There are five personality traits in organizational behavior which were identified as the Big Five personality model traits.
1)Openness to experience
2)Conscientiousness
3)Extroversion
4)Agreeableness
5)Neuroticism
Openness to experience
Most people fear to open up to experience. this is one way we could judge an employee as it shows how far he/she likes to explore and engage in work and creatively adjust according to the positive or negative nature. those who face this sort of situation positively are high scorers and those who face these situations negatively are low scorers.
Conscientiousness
This is also a major trait that measures a person's reliability and dependability. these people are mostly considered well-organized and goal-oriented. They are like those who climb the ladder in organizations rapidly with a steady mind.
Extroversion
A person's talkative and outgoing nature is measured through this trait. they're the people who have a very good PR and show great confidence. Hence, they score higher in that aspect and the ones who score low are mostly in solitude.
Agreeableness
This trait shows how one can get along and work as a team. sharing each other's thoughts and ideas. Those who score high in this trait is understanding and affectionate. Those who score low are rude and arrogant.
Neuroticism
The final trait in the Ocean model of traits focuses on emotional stability. It speaks of how an employee can control sorrow and anxiety. especially not being sensitive to every situation. Those who score higher in this area are likely to be low in self-esteem and very emotional and those who score low are probably adventurous.
These traits of personality help an organization to understand the employee's attitudes and psychological behavior to a certain extent. which thus creates the path to cultivate a better and stronger workplace.
once the leaders identify the tendencies of the employees they can help them motivate and overcome their weaknesses. The organization's success depends totally on the employees.
